1)
Welcome to our Create a Dragonball Tutorial. This tutorial will walk you
through step by step to create a Cel Quality Dragonball from the series.
This way you will be able to use this image in your graphic and not worry
about the star number or quality, because that will all be up to you.
First open up a New Transparent Document. I chose 400 by 400 px. (File>New) |
|
|
2) First,
you need to make a new layer and rename it to Ball. Now, select the Eliptical
Marquee Tool.
Make a perfect circle selection in your first layer (A perfect selection
can be created by holding the shift key while dragging). Do not to make
the circle larger than your canvas. Now select the Paint Bucket Tool
and fill your selection in the Ball layer with an orange color (I used #FCA822).
|
3) Now,
it's time to make another new layer. Name this one: Inner Ball. You will
use the Eliptical Marquee Tool
once more here. Make a selection smaller than the Ball Layer, but still
a moderate sized circle. With the selection still there, hold the ALT
button on your keyboard. Now draw a circle about an inch in diameter at
the bottom left of the selection in ther Inner Ball Layer. What you should
have done is subtracted part of your selection. Consult the image to the
right.
(Sorry if
you had trouble understanding, but I didn't know how else to describe
this.) |
|
 |
4) With the
selection still there from the last step, use the Paint Bucket Tool
and fill the selection with a darker orange color (I used #ED9205). |
5) Okay create
a new layer, name it: Shade. Though, you may be able to accomplish this
part with Feather, I've decided to have you draw the Shade around the bottom
right border with the Brush Tool
These are your settings to the right. |
|
 |
6) Simply
click and drag your mouse right around the bottom right edge of the of the
Dragonball. Like this. |
7) Now
create another layer, we will call this: Shine. Select the Eliptical Marquee
Tool
. Create the selection as seen to the right. Use the Paint Bucket
to fill them with white. Afterwards, press CTRL + T (This will take your
layer into Transform moder) If you position your mouse near one of the
outer edges of the transform selection you will be able to rotate it.
Rotate the selection so it fits well. Once your selection is rotated and
fits, create one more perfect circle with the
tool (much smaller) right above it.
This
is what I have so far.
Almost done! |
|

|
8) Now create
a new layer called: Star. Select the Polygonal Lasso Tool .
We will be using this to draw a star manually. You should know how to draw
a star... Click in the middle of the canvas, then a few pixels down and
to the left, then click to the middle right, middle left, bottom right,
and back to the top. (>_< I guess it's hard to explain, but you should
have understood.) Fill your selection with red. |
9) Aaaand...
we're done. You should have a Dragonball in your canvas that you made
completely from scratch! Congratulations. This is what I came up with...
